The STR Benefit Calculator is an educational modeling tool designed to help you explore the potential financial and tax implications of short-term rental ownership. It does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice. This policy describes, in general terms, how the tool handles information in the course of normal use.
2. Information you provide
The calculator accepts financial inputs you enter — such as income figures, property details, and projection assumptions — solely to generate on-screen estimates. If you choose to save your work, those inputs may be stored with your account so you can retrieve them later. You are never required to enter real or identifying financial information; the tool works equally well with hypothetical numbers.
3. Accounts and sessions
Creating an account is optional. The tool may establish a lightweight, temporary session automatically so your work is not lost if you navigate away. If you choose to sign in, you can do so through a major identity provider; we receive only the information that provider shares with us (typically an email address and an identifier). Sessions and saved preferences may rely on cookies or equivalent browser storage mechanisms; you can clear these through your browser settings.
4. Technical information
Like most web services, our infrastructure may automatically record routine connection details — such as general device type or region — as part of normal operation for reliability, security, and support purposes. We describe this at a category level; we do not publish an exhaustive list of every field that may be logged, as that list can change with infrastructure updates.
5. Sharing
The tool offers optional ways to share a scenario — for example, by generating a link or sending an invite. When you share in this way, anyone who receives that link or invitation may be able to view the scenario inputs and results you shared. Please share only information you are comfortable making accessible to the recipient. We do not use shared scenario data for purposes other than delivering the share to the intended recipient.
6. Usage and performance insight
We may collect aggregate or anonymized information about how the tool is used — such as which features are visited most often or general performance metrics — to improve the product over time. This data is not linked to individual users or their calculator inputs.
7. Preferences
Display preferences — such as light or dark mode — may be stored locally in your browser and, if you have an account, with that account so your preference carries across devices. These are purely cosmetic and contain no financial information.
8. Service providers
We rely on industry-standard infrastructure and subprocessors for hosting, authentication, data storage, and related services. These providers process data on our behalf and are subject to appropriate data-protection obligations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
9. Retention and your choices
Saved scenarios are retained while your account is active. You can delete individual scenarios at any time through the tool. If you wish to remove your account and associated data, contact us using the information below. Temporary session data is typically discarded when the session ends or after a short period of inactivity.
10. Children
This tool is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided information through the tool, please contact us so we can remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the tool after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
